Prescription drug costs have risen so much! Some plans have high copays for generic drugs. Really?

$19 copay for a drug that has been around for decades, that you happen to be taking? You have to self-advocate. Be a consumer. Shop online at http://www.goodrx.com for a start.

Second, ask your pharmacist if they have a discount plan. My wife recently asked her pharmacist and their discount cost was $7…much better than the $19 copay we had been paying. You won’t get credit towards your out of pocket max, but you’re not going to get there on a couple of generic medications. Also, Walgreens, Walmart, Target, and Costco have generic lists where they offer inexpensive (Dare I say cheap?) medications. Many in the $4-$7 range. As long as you can resist the t-shirts they want you to come in and see/buy, you are being a good consumer there. Please share what you have done that saves money!
